NULL/VOID in Art Licks Magazine 4: N/V essay out now!

`Omega´ is a text by Ali Eisa written for NULL/VOID on the occasion of their upcoming show `OMEGA´ at the Sassoon Gallery, opening on Thursday, 28th of July 2011, on view through August 14th 2011. The accompanying images have been produced by N/V in response to the essay.

EXCERPT:
“The visual took over. The special effects became more important than the single person. That was the beginning of the end.” ‘The Real’ and ‘80’s Action Movie Genre’ are not particularly synonymous terms; in fact it’s about as synonymous as ‘Fascist - Hip Hop’. Yet the lack of affinity is nonetheless lamented by Sylvester Stallone in his most recent episode of “nostalgia porn” - an example of the tendency towards the seemingly sincere and uncritical restaging of a lost cultural vitality. An attempt to recoup the Event, to re-experience the accidents of its making, its given intensities.
